The crowd throws turnips at the ‘Jarramplas’ during the ‘brutal but emotional’ traditional Spanish party

In the Spanish town of Piornal, a centuries-old traditional festival has people throwing turnips at the “Jarramplas”, a man dressed in multicolored clothes and a pointed wooden headdress. According to tradition, Jarramplas represents a cattle rustler, but he also embodies evil and striking him symbolizes the expulsion of all evil.
