Iran conducts major military drills in major oil waterways in ‘war before war’

Iran held high-level military exercises on Friday in a joint effort with air, sea and land forces, in what a top general called “the war before the war” as he spoke out against the threat representing Israel and the US.

The drills, held in the Strait of Hormuz, where about 25 percent of the world’s oil is transported, were dubbed “Zolfaghar-1401” and involved commandos, airborne infantry, drones, several aircraft and submarines, according to local reports

The exercises were conducted to “enhance readiness to deal with foreign threats and any possible invasion,” the Middle Eastern Eye reported.

RUSSIA’S LAVROV CALLS FOR ‘IRREVERSIBLE’ ARMS RACE WITH IRAN IF NUCLEAR DEAL IS NOT ACCEPTED

However, while Iran frequently conducts military exercises, the exercise came amid heightened tension with the West, particularly the US and its ally Israel.

Iran’s biggest. January Gholam Ali Rashid said the drills were held because Tehran “wanted.”[s] let our enemies know that we are ready.”

Rashid warned the United States and any other nation not to support Israel and considered Jerusalem its number one threat.

ISRAEL FEAR BIDEN STILL WANTS IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL, BUT US CLAIMS DEAL ‘NOT ON THE AGENDA’

“The Zionist regime is the first priority as a threat to Iran’s national security,” he told Iran’s Mizan news agency on Friday on the sidelines of the exercises.

Rashid said Israel is supposed to be working in coordination with the United States and threatened that any country that helps Israel could be subject to Tehran’s Quds Force, an offshoot of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that is allegedly responsible of extraterritorial military and clandestine operations.

“We are the generation of war, and we have learned war from war,” he said. “We hope that the enemy will not seek to test our will and strength because they will definitely not bear the costs.”

Iran has long opposed the presence of the US Navy in the region, and there have been several clashes between Western militaries, shipping companies and Iran over the transportation of oil and international sanctions.

Admiral Habibollah Sayyari told the official IRNA news agency that foreign forces in the region must leave “so that regional countries can establish stability and peace in their neighborhood.”
