A common sign of silent abandonment in a relationship is when partners stop sharing their feelings with each other and avoid the topic at all costs, Murphy said. She said: “They’re trying to end the relationship without having to deal with the emotions that come with a breakup. It’s like putting a plaster over an open wound and not dealing with what’s really going on.”

You’re sweating the petty stuff

Murphy said that a relationship without conflict isn’t healthy either, but that picking up on small issues could be a sign that your partner has had enough. Small things usually don’t matter in the big picture, but sweating the small stuff can be a sign. Murphy said, “It could be because they’ve decided they don’t want to be with you anymore, but they don’t want to hurt your feelings by telling you directly. So instead, they take out their anger about the situation with small, petty things that they don’t matter in the grand scheme of things.”

They don’t listen to your problems
