Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha, hospitalized with heart disease

The daughter of Thailand’s king is being treated in a Bangkok hospital after she collapsed with heart problems while walking her dogs.

The palace described his condition as “somewhat stable” yesterday.

But some reports have suggested that his condition is much more serious than the palace lets on.

He was training his dogs in a working dog championship organized by the military in northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province when he collapsed.

Paramedics rushed her to a local hospital before a helicopter took her to Chulalongkorn Health Center in Bangkok.

She is still undergoing treatment there, the palace said in a statement on Thursday.

The fitness enthusiast is widely regarded as the most suitable successor to her father, who turned 70 this year.

Medical announcements for Thailand’s royal family are often vague and cryptic, making it difficult to know the severity of their condition, according to the BBC’s Jonathan Head in Bangkok.

The Thai Red Cross has opened a station for people to sign “blessings” for the princess’ recovery.

Bajrakitiyabha is the daughter of the king’s first wife, Princess Soamsawali. The couple divorced in 1991.

The princess has been part of her father’s inner circle since he came to the throne in 2016 and is a senior officer in the king’s personal guard.

He holds postgraduate law degrees from two US universities and has long called for prison reform in Thailand.

She was also the Thai ambassador to Austria from 2012 to 2014.

The king has yet to formally name his heir.
